Bollywood actor Salman Khan has received a fresh threat from a person claiming to be from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang over a song that has reference to the jailed gangster. In the threat message, received on Mumbai Police’s WhatsApp number on Thursday night, the person sought a ransom of Rs 5 crore from the actor.
“Lawrence Bishnoi gang. If Salman Khan pays Rs 5 crore, we will let him go,” the threat message read.
The person also issued a death threat to the lyricist of ‘Main Sikandar Hoon’, a song from Salman Khan’s upcoming film Sikander. “Whoever has written this song, we will not let him go… The person who has written this song, we will end his life in the next one month…,” the threat message, written in Hindi, said.
Upon receiving the message, the Mumbai Police launched a probe and traced the mobile number to Karnataka. According to the police, the mobile number was issued to a person named Vikram Dasar.
Threat message sent to Salman Khan
A police team was sent to Karnataka and alerted about the possible location and the details of the number from which the threat message was sent.
In the past few weeks, the Mumbai Police helpline has received many threat messages for Salman Khan allegedly issued by members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Salman has been in the crosshairs of the Bishnoi gang in connection with the 1998 blackbuck poaching case.
Last week, a similar death threat was issued to Salman Khan, where the accused said that the actor should either visit a temple and apologise for allegedly killing a black buck or pay Rs 5 crore. Later, the police arrested a man, identified as Vikram Bishnoi, in connection with the threat message from Bengaluru.
During the investigation, Bishnoi, who worked as a welder, said that he was not linked to Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang and sent the threat after seeing similar news. He was produced before a local Mumbai court, which granted his judicial custody.
